In the early 1970s, after working as a coffee buyer for Hills Brothers and MJB Coffee in San Francisco and earning a Masters’ Degree in business from the University of California at Berkeley, Robert Pecota became involved in the wine business. In 1974, while working for Beringer Winery as a grape and bulk wine buyer, Bob acquired 40 acres of land at the northern end of Napa Valley, near the town of Calistoga, and began pursuing his dream of operating a small family winery. In 1978, he established Robert Pecota Winery and made his first commercial wines.

Today, nearly 30 years later, Bob, his two daughters, Kara and Andrea, and his “second family” of winery employees manage the winery and its 37-acre estate vineyard. The winery’s small production of handcrafted wines, each produced from a single vineyard, has earned a loyal following among wine lovers throughout the United States.
