Vintage & Vineyard

In 2005, a warm late winter instigated early bud break, but cool, wet weather in spring set back vine development. Unseasonably cool temperatures persisted throughout summer, slowing the pace of ripening. Fortunately, classic Indian summer weather arrived in September, fully ripening the Muscat Canelli grapes. We harvested our Muscat grapes from the Solari Vineyard in Calistoga in October with an ideal balance of grape sugars and acidity, enabling us to produce this fresh, fragrant, beautifully balanced dessert wine.

Winemaking

The grapes were fermented entirely in stainless steel tanks at cold temperature to retain as much of the Muscat grape’s exotic fragrance as possible.

Winemaker’s Notes

We have produced Moscato d'Andrea for over 20 years. Our 2005 vintage bottling is another incredible wine, offering a fascinating mélange of exotic aromas including pineapple, orange blossom, lemon oil, grapefruit, honey and green tea. Despite its low alcohol and light body, the wine offers concentrated pineapple, honey and grapefruit flavors that are beautifully balanced between sweetness and acidity. Enjoy it on its own or with fresh fruit and fruit-based desserts.
